A 'Newer You' in Mindfulness

With elevated senses we could become more ourselves as we find modalities for our creative practices. Mindfully escaping the rat race to permeate our lives with thoughtfulness & an awareness of our surroundings – not to overshadow the life we have, but to embrace it.

Across time there will always be things we want to improve or go through better next time, yet we forget the importance of new experiences. At times even wishing things could stay the same or that they were easier. Is it any wonder we hardly discover our inner, wiser selves?

Doing only what you are capable of each day is sameness. Nothing wrong with it, there's no pressure or permanence expected, it simply lingers on

To start anything from a place you’ve never noticed the need to change is as new to most people as it is to start a creative habit you've never done before. There might be something in you calling you to continue living towards a new spark you need to experience...

And that could be the indication to what your Soul needs.

In this moment a will to be better than any other time in your life because you choose to do a new thing today!

New things invite a fresh perspective - a chance to reset our routines & a place to live in a colourful display of sketchbook joy. A sketchbook is more than just resting place for our thoughts; they are sacred environments to enhance our lives, our mood & something that replaces lost energy s we can feel fulfilled in overall wellbeing.

By turning into our sketchbooks, we can literally create a life wherein our minds renew, align & overflowing with gentle change that reshape our habits.

It's not only about creating a space in an upside-down world where you could thrive in. It’s a becomingness of eager readiness for what we cannot sense coming

Not to be afraid but rather to embrace life with creative enthusiasm

We could explore other practices or levels of change & while it all feels like the ways we are used to, we can also take a fresh look at how our senses come to life through spiritual oneness, our physical observations, our soul’s hidden sense of awareness & our creative life-forces. We don’t need to only rely our sight, touch, sound, smell & taste as the basic foundations of our experiences, we can also use our elevated senses in small intentional shifts to help us feel more connected.

In this weeks membership contents I share about self-kindness, a way to express your free will & live a happier life as if it wasn't something we ought to have anyway. What are your thoughts? Do you need to find happiness or are you bringing it into your life automatically through the things you choose to do?

Just like the cozy living room corner I’ve shared on social media or the soft pillows behind my back as I create or the sacred hideaway in the studio where the door can be drawn for secluded warmth, soft lighting & flickering candles made for reflection.

“We can fine tune our observation to hear the sound of life as we create soothing sketchbook pages to escape from life’s troubles for short moments in time” – Tanya J. de Wet

Sound shapes many of our emotions as it sets the tone in our atmospheres. Sometimes the subtleness of a humming fridge eases a wondering through while early morning birds create a powerful awakening from within.

No matter what you prefer to listen to this month, you’ll have a month to figure out what you lend your ears to.

Is the sound you hear a calming auditory environment that reduces stress? A rhythmic frequency to improve focus? Or are you surrounding yourself with distractions to avoid listening to what your thoughts bring you?!

Find the printable pages in the link below as we go through each one over the next few months

Here’s what you could do to notice your world, starting with the sounds you surround yourself with.

  • You could go outside your normal routines to visit another garden where you could hear what else nature has to offer

  • I often listen to classical music, or instrumental renditions of songs we used to love to see if we feel different about them with no words

  • Listen in on nature through an open door to allow your home to experience the absence of silence without distracting you too much

  • Here’s one you may not have thought of; use soft textiles in your space to absorb noise things like curtains, rugs, soft upholstered furniture & pillows help to reduce echoes & harsh background sounds without taking away from experiencing them – it’s there but softer, less intrusive

  • Add a small water feature to a space where you often go to for a moment of seated stillness & sit there to only listen to how it flows

  • We love the sound of all kinds of wind chimes with their gentle tingling sounds echoing into peace, filling an emptiness with chaotic rhythms that all sound like they belong to the moment

By tuning your environment into a soft soundscape of focal points, you inevitably invite in calmness, harmony & the scales of balanced sound into your daily life.

And f life has felt over the top crazy with days overflowing with chatter, maybe a quiet focus on a small sound can guide you to listen, to hear what a kinder environment has to share. Being mindful to not wait for stillness but to create it for yourself. Floating into creative play as your attention is moved to another sound or drawn into a special time for selflessness.

Being kind to yourself is happiness, undisturbed by what society deems appropriate or correct... just you taking care of your mind
